A Movie About Grand Duchess
Elizabeth Feodorovna

Translated from Russian

• Jul. 10th, 2013 at 12:58 PM

This is the first movie about the Grand Duchess Elizabeth, who became a martyr for the faith, an amazing Christian Saint embodying in her life in practical terms those Gospel values which are so touching and pleasing a man's soul, helping turn it Christ-loving and which [values] are so much hated by the enemies of Light.

The film is short, simple, and somewhat naive; seen in it is the remodeled Soviet propaganda ["agitprop"], which, however, is non-sophisticated and ingenuous – to me it is much more pleasant than the subsequent "patriotic" and "spiritual" copies the last times, with some sort of artsy beautifulness and deviation after "high spirituality" and " killers' brutality".

By the way, he who will watch the first shots: note the complete absence of any fences and other walling in the city's streets. (Ant that in Moscow, downtown!) And just think how much has changed since 1989! ....

Monks' Alphabet
to ease the Jesus prayer

Temporal

'Translated' from Polish
(thank you, reader Martin!)

Monks' Alphabet

Rejoice monk, and once again I say rejoice, the first [is] this.

Rejoice monk, obedience, and again I say, rejoice always monk, Lord's second [is] this.

Close up the cell,
And in this way, the monastery will rejoice.

Always rejoice monk, I'll say it a third time,

Pray monk
All the monastery rejoice with you, monk!

Always rejoice, monk, I'll say it for the fourth time.

A fifth and final, listen monk

If you experience a difficulty, catfish, if you fall into despair – do not lose hope,
do not retire, do not be weary, exhibit no faint-heartedness,

And when you need to, prostrate little bro.
And so all the monastery rejoice with you, monk.

"Te-Ri-Rem" a Byzantine meaningless song during whose performance monks make the Jesus prayer.

A Prayer Before Communion
by St Dimitry of Rostov

Open, O doors and bolts of my heart
that Christ the King of Glory may enter!
Enter, O my Light and enlighten my darkness;
enter, O my Life, and resurrect my deadness;
enter, O my Physician and heal my wounds;
enter, O Divine Fire, and burn up the thorns of my sins;
ignite my inward parts and my heart with the flame of Thy love;
enter, O my King, and destroy in me the kingdom of sin;
sit on the throne of my heart and [You] alone reign in me,
O Thou, my King and Lord.
