This is the first movie about the Grand Duchess
Elizabeth, who became a martyr for the faith, an amazing Christian Saint embodying
in her life in practical terms those Gospel values which are so touching and
pleasing a man's soul, helping turn it Christ-loving and which [values] are so much hated by the enemies of Light.
The film is short, simple, and somewhat naive; seen
in it is the remodeled Soviet propaganda ["agitprop"], which,
however, is non-sophisticated and ingenuous – to me it is much more pleasant
than the subsequent "patriotic" and "spiritual" copies the
last times, with some sort of artsy beautifulness and deviation after "high
spirituality" and " killers' brutality".
By the way, he who will watch the first shots:
note the complete absence of any fences and other walling in the city's streets. (Ant that in Moscow, downtown!) And just think how much has changed since 1989! ....
